The Night Before

This will be my 18th mission trip with International Commission and the night before is always the same. Packing, packing and more packing. I always feel like I am forgetting the most important thing.

So I have started a checklist that allows me to make the right choices in getting ready for my trip. On top of my list is lying down with my girls and praying with and for them. Mia, my 8 year old is the one that cries every time I leave. AlliRose wants to know what I am bringing her back from my trip and Alexis loves having the car all to herself.

My wife is the best. She takes care of all the details including driving me to airport in the wee hours of the morning. I could not do what God has called me to do if it wasn't for Karen. I am so blessed to have her as a wife, and mother to my children.

My mother-in-law is in town, and she is going to help out for one more week then she will be back in California (we are still trying to get them to move to Texas). She is the best, and she isn't to bad at being a grandma either.

I will be leaving for Georgetown, Guyana and to Paramaribo, Suriname. I covet your prayers as we take the gospel around the world. We will have our big project in July in Guyana and I will be there to train our leaders on how to conduct church to church evangelism. They have a heart to see the lost won to Christ so it makes my job so much eaiser.

Thank you for all your love and support. Will blog again soon!

Peace,
Phil

First Things First

This is my first blog spot ever. I was recently asked, "Hey Phil do you blog?" My answer was no I really don't have the time or the know how. He said "it's easy" and thus my blog was created today.

Now was the tough part of coming up with a name for this blog. I tried different names and phrases but it seems everyone and their brother have come up with every name under the sun. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Romans 10:15 "And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things."

Well Beautiful Feet was already taken but it wasn't taken in Spanish and thus the name of my blog hermosos los pies.

I have the privledge of doing full-time missions in Central, South America and the Caribbean area of the world. The organization I work for is called International Commission (http://www.ic-world.org/) and our mission is get the gospel preached and people to make a decision about a relationship with Jesus Christ.

My blogs will consist of mission updates as I am on the field. I leave next Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 to Guyana and to Suriname, so please pray for my family and me. I will blog devotionals, thoughts and family updates.

So if you want to take part of what God is doing around the world then stay tuned. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to learning about the world of blogging.

Go ye into all the world,
Phil Torres
